Shalom brethren:
Our reading today is from the book of Isaiah 41:1-15. The highlight is verse 10, “Do not fear [anything], for I am with you; Do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, be assured I will help you; I will certainly take hold of you with My righteous right hand [a hand of justice, of power, of victory, of salvation].” Isaiah 41:10 (Amp)
The word, “do not fear” appears hundreds of times in the Bible. Fear and intimidation are twins. These are the greatest of all the weapons Satan has used against humanity. Knowing this, God has cushioned us against Satan’s schemes by repeatedly telling us not to fear nor be dismayed. With time, fear causes malfunctioning of major body organs like the heart, kidneys, lungs, intestines, and even the brain. Some causes of some sicknesses including: ulcers, arthritis, asthma, and blood pressure can be traced back to fear. Fear is submission to defeat and failure. The most successful motivational speakers frame their messages in a way that pulls people out of defeat and failure.
In this particular circumstance, God, being the best motivational speaker, tells us we should not fear nor be dismayed - whether we go through fire or floods. The most encouraging words from God are that “I will be with you.” Our God is able and nothing is impossible to Him. We, however, need to note that we render God’s abilities functionless whenever we fear. Note this, praying to God and trusting in Him is the best antidote for any fearful situations in life.
